Boycott penalties favoured

NZPA Los Angeles The Olympic movement’s top decision-making body yesterday decided to go ahead with plans to penalise nations which boycott the games. The International Olympic Committee’s nine-man executive board voted unanimously to recommend penalty provisions. (The recommendaticfcwill now be put to a full meeting of the 1.0. C. today.

The move was fore shadowed a week ago by the 1.0. C. president, Juan Antonio Samaranch, although he said there might be some opposition to it. The 1.0. C. director, Monique Berlioux, said after the board meeting there was discussion both for and against, but the decision to recomend the new rules was unanimous. No detail has yet been

worked out, she said. But the effect will be that a member country which does not attend a games for political reasons will not be eligible for the following games.
