We’ve done It now! Devaluation Day Has come and gone — What else is there to say? Nothing for Me! Let those whose Business it is Be furiously busy, The Ordinary Man is not Much wiser — is he? ■So many Billions leave him A little dizzy. In one short Week, How much can happen, Sir, Between Things as They are And as They were! I fold the Newspaper and Switch off the Tee-vee, All this Prognostication How Things will be — How well-educated the Guesses Are, we’ll see! Sir, these are terribly eventful And Stirring Times — But I’m sorry, you’ll have to excuse Me Any more Rhymes — While I scribble an Overdue Devalued Birthday Cheque to “Oz” And call my Bank, to discover What the Value WAS!
