Campaign spending

Sir,—ln A. M. Coates’ letter of July 18 it was suggested that the New Zealand Party breached the Electoral Act by producing an expensive, “giant manifesto.” I never saw evidence of the New Zealand Party’s ability to “spend without limit,” as A. M. Coates claims. Surely television campaigning by the other two major political parties incurred a higher cost than a “giant manifesto.” Perhaps A. M. Coates does not possess a television.—Yours, etc., S. T. WOJTAS. July 19, 1984.
