Sir,—l would like to thank the outgoing Prime . Minister, Sir Robert Muldoon, for his strong leadership of this county in troublous times; for his ability to take the tough decisions; for honouring his election promises when under strong pressure to revoke them; for his high-profile representation of New Zealand in Commonwealth and international settings; for his calm and reassuring presence in times of crisis; and for his unfailing and quite delightful sense of humour. Congratulations, Sir Robert, for leading the National Party to victory in three consecutive elections t- no mean feat in difficult times. — Yours, etc.,
