Aid call
A group of countries is studying a request from the Maldives Islands in the Indian Ocean near Sri Lanka for SUSIO million ($l6 million) assistance this year. The countries are Australia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Britain, and the United States. International bodies are also taking part in the talks. The request was made yesterday by the Maldives’ Foreign Minister, Fathulla Jameel, who also said that his country would need SUSIS million ($24 million) in 1985. — Paris.
