Africa
Sir, — Viewers of the television series “Africa” must feel shame, disgust, horror and guilt. The Christian nations of Europe brought humiliation, and degradation to Africa, with whole cultures being destroyed for land, trade, cheari labour, profits and converts.
Since the voyages of discovery, Europeans have destroyed culture after culture in their greed for colonies and converts. The African slave trade is a blot on mankind that will never be obliterated. The gun and the Bible have been a cruel partnership. When Bishop Tutu was in New Zealand, he was asked about the behaviour of black countries today. His response was that the Christian nations of Europe are far worse, and have been responsible for countless millions of deaths. Who are we to judge African countries today? — Yours, etc., B. R.
