Motunau farm passed in

A 409 ha farm at Motunau, owned by Mr H. L. Pickering, a former member of Parliament for Rangiora, was passed in at auction yesterday at $840,000.

Bidding started at $760,000 and rose in $20,000 bids to the final price. The farm was then offered in two lots, a 220 ha block, which was passed in at $430,000, and a 189 ha block, passed in at $420,000. The property has a Government valuation (1979) of $514,650. The land is flat to gentle rolling downs suitable for sheep, cattle, and crops. Buildings include three houses.

The auctioneer, Mr H. Morrison, of Dalgety Crown, Ltd, said he was hopeful that a private sale for the whole property would be negotiated.
