Eagles win volleyball

PA Wellington University Northcote’s attempt to retain the New Zealand men’s volleyball title received a setback when it was beaten in five sets by Eagles of Wellington in the opening match of the national club championships at Porirua yesterday. Eagles upset the reigning champion 15-5, 11-15, 15-11, 1215, 15-5. Eagles failed to build on the start when later it lost to last year’s other finalist Skellerup Allstars. Eagles fought back from 10-0 down to take the first set before Skellerup took the next three, 15-10,15-10, 157.
