He intimated that tax on boats and cosmetics may well come down to around 10 per cent from the current rate of 20 per cent and 40 per cent respectively. Last week during the course of a question and answer session on television broadcast from Oamaru, Mrs Hercus, the Labour member for Lyttelton, stated unequivocally, in answer to a question from the floor, that Labour if elected would abolish sales tax completely from boats, boat fittings and cosmetics.
