Top two teams beaten
The competition leader, Southbridge, was beaten, 9-3, by Burnham in Ellesmere senior rugby on Saturday. However, with three rounds remaining Southbridge is still comfortably clear, as its nearest rival, Sheffield, also lost on Saturday. Sheffield lost, 11-0, to Kirwee, with the Kirwee pack, led by the Canterbury captain, Don Hayes, giving an inspired performance. In the other games Leeston beat Lincoln, 10-6, and Peninsula and Darfield drew, 6-6.

Under 21.— Prebbleton 8, Darfield 6; Dunsandel 54, Southbridge 13; Waihora 6, Lincoln 0; Bumham won by default. Under 18.— Waihora 10, Combined 9; Springston 21, West Melton 8; Darfield 24, Leeston Combined 3.
Under 16.- Darfield, 39, Springston 7; Waihora 24, Prebbleton 4; Leeston 23, West Melton 0.
Under 14. — Bumham 20, Southbridge 6; West Melton 26, Prebbleton 4; Lincoln 36, Leeston white 3; Sheffield 18, Selwyn 8; Darfield 35, Leeston red 0; Dunsandel 16, Springston 12.
All under 12 and under 10 games were cancelled because of the weather.
