JODI VAUGHAN “Rodeo Eyes” (EMI EMC 213). This album is full of variety and typical of the style Jodi has developed, highlighted with catchy bubbling aongs that include “Living On Love” and “Easy To Write A Sad Song.” Although I have never been a fan for “rock” within country, Jodi’s version of “All Shook Up” comes over well. “Love Is Gone,” an original by Jodi, is presented with feeling and highlights her skill as a song writer as well as a top country artist. Other tracks on the album include “Midnight Again,” “Wishin and Hopin,” and the Eagles’ song, “Peaceful Easy Feeling.” Overall this album is easy listening and with the title track now established I will be very surprised if other numbers from this album

don’t start appearing well up the charts in the near future.

PATSY RIGGIR “You’ll Never Take The Country Out Of Me” (CBS ELPS 4422). This is Patsy’s fourth album and her third, for CBS and without doubt she remains New Zealand’s best loved country singer. Patsy’s latest album contains an interesting mix of long time favourites “Dark Moon” and “Please Help Me I’m Falling,” combined with “Blue Forever” and three originals by her, “When I’m Close To You,” “Would You Be That Someone,” and the title track. “You’ll Never Take The Country Out Of Me” must be Patsy’s most “Nashville” sounding album to date. It’s pure country and pure Patsy Riggir. — WARREN LAPSLIE.
