The Belle Motions play their final shows at the Star and Garter Tavern today, tomorrow, and Saturday evenings, before setting out on a short South Island tour. Mark Wilson, the band’s bass guitarist, and former lead guitarist with the Androids, said that the band were concerned about becoming over-exposed in Christchurch.
The band might play in the city one more time after returning from the South Island tour, but they were hoping to set out on a tour
of the main North Island centres, he said. The South Island dates include the Post Office Hotel, Motueka, on June 29 and June 30, and Timaru’s Terminus Hotel from July 12 to July 14. Besides Wilson, the other members of the band are: Donna Sheen, who played with the Expendables and the Splinter Theatre Group; Oily Scott, guitar, formerly of the Basket Cases; and Dave Toland, drums, whose old bands include the Playthings and They Were Expendable.
