Snake ruse used in theft
NZPA-AP Bedford, Texas
One of three teen-agers who scared a conveniencestore clerk by brandishing a snake while stealing three six-packs of beer has been arrested, and the police say they know the other two suspects. A youth, aged 16, was charged with aggravated robbery and two others were being sought in what the police were calling the great snake robbery, said Detective Doyle Smith.
The police said the three threw the 90cm non-poison-ous garter snake on the counter and escaped with the beer while the clerk wrestled with the reptile. The snake was later killed by the police.
