Betting increases at Ellerslie
PA Auckland Combined betting on the Auckland Racing Club’s three major meetings this season exceeded last year’s turnover by over $4 million. Turnover for the threeday Nescafe Great Northern Steeplechase meeting which finished last Saturday was $8,481,175, a rise of $1,137,230.
The increase was fairly
well divided between the course and the T.A.B. Betting on the four-day summer meeting totalled $15,048,184, an increase of $2,058,643. Again, there was little between course and T.A.B. figures. The autumn meeting, its three days falling out of usual order, still attracted $7,436,576 an increase of $832,831 of which $510,456 went through the T.A.B.
