Leyland jumps 100c
Leyland Investments, the seldom traded Auckland investment group, jumped a further 100 c on a firm, busy New Zealand sharemarket yesterday, in continuing reaction to the news that it was to float an associate company. The issue closed at 630 c, putting its gains for the last two days at 220 c. NZI Corporation firmed 4c to 198 c after reporting higher earnings and dividend, and plans of a bonus issue. Other market leaders to rise included Brierley up 7c, Fletcher Challenge 2c, and NZ Forest Products sc. Equiticorp, the big finance company that was listed last week, lost 10c to 135 c, and Cable Price Downer slipped a further 5c to 500 c as the buying for the issue eased. In the oil sector, Horizon continued to be traded actively, but its contributing shares eased 2c.
