Canty A triumphs in badminton
Canterbury A won the South Island Division II badminton play-off series in Picton last week-end. It beat Marlborough. 12-4. in the opening round. and followed that with a 14-2 win over Canterbury B and a 9-7 win over Otago. Canterbury B went down to Otago, 10-6,'in the first round, but was too strong for Marlborough in round three, winning. 10-6. Otago hammered Marlborough. 14-2. in the second round. The winning Canterbury A team comprised Brian Williams. Mark Reid, Ng Hui
Hua. Mark Chambers. Jenny Hood. Nicola Robertson. Pam Froude and Karen Rogers. The Canterbury B team was Mark Waldin, Mike Porter. Nick teeming. Dean Lester. Graeme Rogers. Leanne Buchan. Diane Smith. Christine Moller and Liz Henson. The win means that Canterbury A will represent the South Island at the national final against the top North Island team in Division II later in the season. It will also enable Canterbury to contest the promotion-relegation series, along with the top North Island team, for a place in the new Division I for 1985
