Lost in thought

“Lost in Thought” is the title of Pat Gamble’s latest exhibition of paintings at the C.S.A. Gallery, which opens next week. The Irish-born painter has exhibited his work twice before at the gallery and his latest show is a collection of abstract paintings completed in the last nine months.

“I particularly enjoy painting abstracts as it allows me freedom to follow my imagination without being restricted by specific forms or structures. I can rely on instinct and my senses to transmit ideas to the linen and I find,

when painting in this manner, I really do become lost in thought, he said. His aim is to paint something as he finds it. Painting in abstract leaves the artist more scope to create rather than to paint real things, he said.

He describes his work as being similar to prints from a press. “They are paintings in print form. They are very fine,” he said. Mr Gamble concentrates on sublety in his work, allowing the public to read into them what they like. The exhibition of 20 paintings, which opens on Tuesday, will run until July 2.
