League suspensions
Three premier rugby league players were last evening suspended tor four matches each by the Canterbury board of control. Steve Hoy (Halswell) and Bruce Mayell (Papanui) had been sent off for "entering a fray” in the same match on May 27, and John C-veca
(Addington) was dismissed for making an illegal high tackle against Kaiapoi last Saturday. Because Halswell had the bye last week-end, Hoy still has four rounds to serve. Mayell missed Papanui’s game agaiust Linwood last Saturday, and is to stand down for three more.
