Fatal fire at Picton
PA Blenheim An elderly man died in a house fire in Picton last evening. The police have yet to identify the man, but he was reported to be aged over 80. The fire alarm was given at 6.30 p.m. when smoke was seen coming from the
house. Neighbours broke down the front door to enter the house, but were driven back by the heat when they tried to put out the blaze. The man was found lying on his bed. The fire appeared to have started from an electrical outlet.
