Prime Minister lays complaint
The Prime Minister, Sir Robert Muldoon, has laid a complaint with the Broadcasting Corporation over the programme, “Fourth Estate,” shown on television on Friday, May 25. The executive producer of the series, Mr Peter Morritt, said yesterday that that programme had been presented by Mr Neil Roberts and had been about news media “bashing.” “It was a reply or opinion by Neil Roberts about the trend of media bashing over the last month or so,” said Mr Morritt, when referring to Sir Robert’s complaint. The corporation’s complaints committee would meet within the next week,
Mr Morritt said. It would then make a recommendation to the board which would be heard at a meeting on July 3. One other official complaint concerning “Fourth Estate” had also been received, Mr Morritt said, but this did not relate to the same programme. The second complaint concerned a programme presented by Mr Pat Booth which had as its subject the Auckland magazine, “Metro,” and other areas, Mr Morritt said. He would not comment on Sir Robert’s complaint, saying that everyone concerned had not yet been informed.
