England pick new men
NZPA-Reuter Port Elizabeth England has selected five new caps for the first rugby union test against the Springboks in Port Elizabeth today. The tourists chose the same combination which recently held Western Province to a 15-15 draw. Included in the line-up is the centre, Huw Davies, who had been confined to bed with influenza. The side boasts a total of 79 caps. Two of the five new
caps, a centre John Palmer and the scrum-half, Richard Hill, play for Bath which provides five men in the side. The other new caps are the wing, Mark Bailey, a prop, Malcolm Preedy, and the No. 8, Chris Butcher. The team is: Dusty Hare; Mark Bailey, Huw Davies, John Palmer, David Trick; John Horton, Richard Hill; Chris Butcher, Peter Winterbottom, John Scott (captain), John Fidler, Jon Hall; Phil Blakeway, Steve Mills, Malcolm Preedy.
