My James Dee respected tonight
NZPA-AAP Melbourne Bookmakers are treading carefully with the former New Zealander, My James Dee, which will make his Australian debut at Moonee Valley, tonight. My James Dee, 7-2 second favourite, will have his first start on Australian soil in the Graduation Handicap (2400 m and will start off the backmark of 10m. The four-year-old has not started since winning the Wyndham Cup (3200 m on March 10. Bookmakers are obviously keeping My James Dee safe in the market as he is in the stables of a top trainer, Ron Peace. Peace has enjoyed great success with New Zealand
horses. Young Pride, Black Armbro, Our Lordani and Sir Rival have landed some big betting plunges. Peace has had My James Dee for about six weeks but the son of Sir Dalrae has not been seen at any public trials. Sir Rival should continue his winning run in the three-year-old stakes. Sir Rival, aiso by Sir Dalrae, was most impressive in winning over 2400 m at Moonee Valley last Monday. The gelding stepped straight to the lead and was untroubled to win. The youngster recorded a scintillating 57.3 s for his last 800 m. Sir Rival is quoted as a 2-1 favourite for the 19$m event tonight.
