Deputy leader’s job
Parliamentary reporter The New Zealand Party’s candidate for Remuera, Mr Ken Sandford, has filed a nomination for the party’s deputy-leadership. Mr Sandford, who represented a conservative element in the party at its inaugural conference last February, is a former chairman of the Accident Compensation Commission and’ an Auckland lawyer and author. He is the fifth nomination for the party’s deputy leadership, which will be decided at a public meeting in Wellington on June 24. Other candidates are: Mr Gordon Dryden (candidate for Tamaki), Mr Timothy Plummer (Waikaremoana), Mrs Janie Pearce (Birkenhead), and Mrs Margaret Evans (Hamilton East).
