Loaders cause of Wgtn stop-work

PA Wellington The Engineers’ Union believes Wellington Airport is seriously short of aircraft loaders. The union’s Wellington secretary, Mr Brian Landers, said yesterday the situation would be discussed at a stop-work meeting on Monday morning. Flights; will be disrupted between 8.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. Air New Zealand expects normal flights to resume by 1 p.m. About 1500 passengers will be affected by 30 flight

cancellations. Only five early morning flights from Wellington will go as scheduled — to Nelson, Palmerston North, Christchurch, Auckland, and Hamilton — and five later Wellington-bound flights will divert to Palmerston North, with their passengers going on to Wellington by bus. Air New Zealand has asked passengers to get in touch with travel agents or airline officers to check on flight arrangements and rebook if necessary.
