Howarth to resume
NZPA correspondent London Geoff Howarth, the New Zealand and Surrey captain, is expected to resume cricket in about 10 days after undergoing minor surgery on a knee injury. Howarth had an arthroscopic examination at a London hospital to establish the extent of the injury which he suffered while making a century against Sussex al-
most two weeks ago. “The examination showed there was no serious damage — only one or two wear and tear fragments floating around which were got rid of,”- the Surrey cricket manager, Micky Stewart, said. Howarth will resume training on Monday and hopes to be fit for Surrey’s match against Lancashire on Saturday week.
