Windies near victory
NZPA-Reuter Taunton Thunderous half-centuries from Clive Lloyd and Roger Harper, and a Somerset collapse, put the West Indian cricketers in sight of their first tour victory. The captain, Lloyd, lashed 72 and the off-spinner, Harper, hit 73 to lift the touring team to 342 all out,
a first innings lead of 226, and Somerset was 89 for four at the close on the second day of the three-day match. Somerset, having succumbed to Harper (five for 32) in its first innings of 116, crumbled against the fast bowlers in its second innings and was 42 for four at one point.
