Record kill at Islington

The Islington freezing works of Waitaki NZ Refrigerating, Ltd, has achieved a record kill of lambs and sheep this year, with four months of the season remaining. Waitaki’s Canterbury manager, Mr G. R. Stobie, said yesterday that up to Thursday 1,188,000 lambs and sheep had been killed at the works, equalling the 1981 record. The killing season begins in October and ends in September. Mr Stobie said the works would now be aiming for a kill of 1,250,000. He emphasised that the new record was achieved in just 155 killing days, compared with 234 killing days it took to reach the same total in 1980-81. 1 ~ "T 3
