Applicants should hold a graduate or post graduate qualification In Landscape Architecture and have achieved some professional or academic status In that field since graduating. They should have proven skills In the areas of landscape planning, site planning and design. They should have a well developed sympathy with a young but growing profession. The successful applicant would be expected to take an active Interest In the development of the profession In New Zealand. Familiarity with New Zealand ecology and social conditions would be an advantage. The successful applicant will be responsible to the Principal through the Professor of Horticulture, Landscape and Parks for the efficient operation of the Landscape section of this Department. This will Include the direction of both full and part-time lecturing staff; liaison with other departments within the College and responsibility for the smooth running of offices, studios and resource rooms. The successful applicant will be expected to provide academic leadership and research and foster the intellectual development of the subject. In addition to general landscape architectural skills, specialised knowledge In computer methodology, New Zealand Indigenous and introduced plants and wildlife conservation, would be desirable. Commencing salary according to qualifications and experience within the range $27,088 — $34,387 per annum. Currently salaries are supplemented by a Cost of Living Allowance of $8 per week.
