VIEWERS’ VIEWS

TV interviewing Sir,—Please tell me, whatever happened to the television interviewer who is employed to ask questions? Having watched the “Sunda/’ programme with lan Fraser interviewing (grilling) Merv Wellington, one wonders who is supposed to be supplying the answers. Only a docile gentleman like Mr Wellington would be content to be heard for less, than one third of air-time, while Mr Fraser constantly interjects and fails to wait for a full reply to a question. Aggressive interviewing appears trendy nowadays, but the object of the exercise is surely to glean information from the knowledgeable, rather than opinions from television employees.—Yours, etc., J. RITCHIE.
