Students to help appeal
Students in the parks and recreation course at Lincoln College will be collecting for the Crippled Children Appeal on Saturday for the third year in succession. Fifty-two students will cover two collection sectors in the Shirley-Richmond district. The senior lecturer of the course, Mr Alan Taylor, is a member of the management committee of the Crippled Children Society. He asked his students for help with the collection and many agreed to do so. Last year the course provided 38 collectors, and the year before
30 collectors.
Mr Taylor said that many disabled students had been or were on courses at the college and some belonged to the Crippled Children Society.
Recreation for the disabled was part of the parks and recreation course and students visit areas where disabled people live, work, and take part in recreation. Lincoln College employs many disabled people and has a high awareness of problems faced by the disabled. On campus, ramps and other facilities and amenities are provided.
