Big chess entry
Thirty-four teams — one fewer than last year’s record number — will contest “The Press” schools’ chess teams’ competition in the second term. Now in its fourteenth year, the tournament will start next week with seven teams in the A grade, 17 in the B grade, which is
divided into two sections, and 10 in the C grade, which is restricted to intermediate schools. Unfortunately, not enough entries were received from girls’ teams to organise a girls’ competition. The two girls schools which entered. St Margaret’s and Rangi Ruru will play in the B grade.
