The AMP Society, of Australia, said it achieved a record 16.2 per cent earnings rate on its Australian No. 1 Statutory Fund in 1983, compared with the total pre-tax investment return, including net capital gains, of 13.9 per cent in 1982. New premiums rose 27.3 per cent to a record sAust4oo.4M, and new protection purchased amounted to a record $11,919M, a 4.6 per cent increase.
AMP’s total income from premium, investment, and other sources for the year rose 12.5 per cent to $2085M.
