Comments by politicians

Sir, — One of your headlines on May 14 said: “National looking sick, says Mr Lange.” No wonder our politicians waste our time and theirs in public manure-slinging matches when such rubbish rates such a headline in one of our country’s leading papers. What should be front-page news are the solutions the various parties have to our country’s obvious problems, so that voters can make up their minds as to which line of policy they think would be the most successful. What does it matter what Messrs Lange, Muldoon, Jones and Beetham say if the electorate chooses not to vote for them. — Yours, etc., W. M. RUSSELL. May 15, 1984.
