Dairy tenders

PA Wellington The Dairy Board has accepted tenders for just $2.5M of its SIOM tender bond issue.

Offered on May 8, the bonds had a face value of $200,000 and a nominal interest rate of 11 per cent. They were effectively identical to the new Government stock tendering system. However, discounts

offered in most of the $13.5M in bids received made the effective interest rate too high, the board said.

“Because interest rates offered were mainly outside the levels Government has indicated are desirable, most were declined,” it said.

The bids accepted ranged from 13.25 per cent to 13.3 per cent.
