‘Firsts’ at Avondale

Special correspondent Cambridge Cambridge tables have two notable "firsts" at the Avondale races today. Prominent jockey, Chris McNab who transferred from Te Awamutu to Cambridge early this year, will saddle up and ride Trioak in the Chatswood Handicap. He recently took out a permit to train licence, and this will be his first starter. Laurie Laxon’s stable will be represented in the Waterview Improvers' Handicap by the imported English mare. La Grigia, which will race for the English owner. Mr Robert Sangster. in partnership with Peter and Phillip Vela, of Hamilton. La Grigia (by Rabat) was a winner and was four times placed from seven starts before coming to New Zealand. She also ran seventh in a big field in the One Thousand Guineas.
