Cup mount for Cassidy

NZPA-AAP Melbourne The New Zealand jockey, Jimmy Cassidy, has landed the ride on the New Zealand stayer, Gun for Fun, in Monday’s $130,000 Adelaide Cup (3200 m at Morphettville. Cassidy picked up the ride at the expense of a fellow New Zealand jockey, Brendan Clements, who has failed to recover from injuries suffered in a fall at Flemington last Saturday week. Gun for Fun’s trainer, Kevin Myers, contacted Cassidy in Queensland and the jockey accepted the mount on the condition he was able to arrange a return flight to Southport in order to ride at the Prime Minister’s Cup meeting there on Tuesday. Myers said he had attempted to engage New Zealand jockey, Maree Lyndon, for Gun for Fun, but Trans Tasman flights were fully booked.
