Rider fined
C. J. Roberts was fined $5O by the Canterbury Jockey Club’s judicial committee yesterday after he had been charged with careless riding on Ruby’s Boy in the Canterbury 1600 at Riccarton. Earlier Judy Hawes, rider of Upper Cut, which finished third, lodged an objection on the ground of interference by Ruby’s Boy early in the run home. However Hawes withdrew her objection after being given permission to view a film of the incident
