Adoption

Sir,—lt is disturbing to read, (“The Press”, May 12), that young woman are being put under pressure, and perhaps even bribed, to have their babies adopted. One wonders how many doctors, social workers, and other counselling services dealing with adoption, are truly unbiased. I hope they listen to the comments made by Ms Marion Delprado, a social worker for the Catholic Social Services. Proper counselling explains the range of action and choices available to a pregnant woman. The choice is hers alone; and whatever decision she makes, it falls to all of us to accept that decision with compassion, support, and understanding.—Yours, etc. PAT A. OCEAN. May 12, 1984
