A prisoner on a “hunger strike” at Paparua Prison has started to take nourishment again and is slowly putting on weight, according to a prison spokesman. Larry Geeson is in the prison’s medical unit and is being seen daily by the prison doctor. Geeson was now taking teajnilk.and powdered energy food, said the spokesman.he said that there was

"no specific reason” for Geeson’s hunter strike although it could have been related to his being shifted to a different section of the prison.

Geesonwas one of four men found guilty in the High Court in October of the manslaughter of a rival gang member. He was sentenced to three years and three months imprisonment.
