Pregnancy staves off jail term
PA Dunedin A pregnant woman who admitted stabbing a man in the back was sentenced in the High Court at Dunedin yesterday to 50 hours community service. Mr Justice Savage told Jane Brenda Donaldson, aged 24, of Dunedin, that her sentence was much less than normal because she was eight months pregnant. Otherwise she might have served a long time in prison.
