Church eases policy on remarriage

The Anglican Church in New Zealand has eased its policy on remarriage. The General Synod, meeting on its final day at Christchurch yesterday, approved a bill which means divorcees can now remarry in the Church without the permission of a bishop. The bill, amending the Church’s Marriage of Divorced Persons Statute, was presented earlier this week by the Venerable M. R. Smart, of the Waiapu Diocese.
