Withdrawal of bonds
PA Wellington The third issue of inflationadjusted savings bonds will be withdrawn on Monday and a fourth issue will be available from Tuesday, the Government announced yesterday. Those investing in fourth series bonds will not be eligible for the inflation premium when obtaining early repayment of their bonds for the purchase of a commercial fishing vessel. The Acting Minister of Finance, Mr Falloon, said in a statement the change was made because the Government had stopped new approvals under existing assistance and lending schemes for inshore fishing. Bondholders wishing early repayment for purchase of a first farm, first home, or if they are aged 60 or over, may still do so and obtain the inflation premium.
