PA Wellington Wellington, in spite of winning a mountain of possession, slumped to a 13-15 defeat to Combined Services in a rugby match on a sodden Hutt Recreation ground on Wednesday. It was Services’ first victory over Wellington. Down 4-6 at halftime, after facing the wind and torrential rain first, Wellington shot to a 13-6 lead after 62 minutes and looked
set for victory. But Services stormed back and a try by Willie Harrison and a conversion and a late penalty by replacement full-back Sam McLean shut out Wellington. Scorers: Combined Services. Willie Harrison try, Sam McLean pen, con. Andrew McMaster 2 penalties. Wellington: Bernie Fraser try, Alan Hewson 3 penalties.
