Pamdora puts dash into final trial
By
J. J. BOYLE
Pamdora appeared to show easy mastery of a soft track in her final trial at Riccarton yesterday for tomorrow’s Amberley Cup. She did well in the conditions to complete 1200 m on the No. 7 grass in 1:21.4, winding up for the last 600 m in a creditable 38.85. z Ron McCann has been engaged to ride Pamdora for the Garth Jackson stable tomorrow.
The stable apprentice, Jackie Oakeshott, will con-
tinue her association in that race with Top Blend, a winner on his home course at Rangiora last month. Pokare, the Champagne Stakes winner at Riccarton, and a firm favourite for the Pyne Gould Guinness Handicap tomorrow, showed plenty of enthusiasm for his 600 m task. He finished a length and a half clear of Longleat and recorded 38.85.
Dreamville ran in from the 1200 m in 1:22, the last 600 m in 40.65.
Handsome Heir, one of his
Amberley Cup rivals, finished his work by sprinting 600 m in 40s.
Earlier, his stablemate, Donizetti, brushed over 600 m on the rain-affected track in 38s.
Donizetti’s two placed runs at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Easter meeting, will bring him in for strong backing at Rangiora tomorrow.
Anticipate, another member of the John Bourne team, recorded 39s for his 600 m.
