BHP well failure
NZPA-AAP Melbourne The Broken Hill Proprietary Company, Ltd, reported that another well in its South China Sea oil exploration programme had been plugged and abandoned after failing to recover hydrocarbons. The programme, which is being led by BP Petroleum, of the United Kingdom, has
proved a major disappointment to date with four dry wells now in the first six months. BHP has a 20 per cent stake in the partnership which extends for three years in unexplored waters off China. The latest failure follows rumours from London last week that the well had recovered oil shows.
