Concrete switch
The Soviet Union recently took delivery of a block of concrete, switched by Western Customs officers for a United States-made, advanced seismograph Moscow tried to import illegally, says the American Secretary of Defence, Mr Caspar Weinberger. The switch was reported in an annual brief to the Congress on United States efforts to prevent unauthorised technology transfers. The seismograph could be used not only for detecting earthquakes but also had the military use of detecting nuclear explosions, saidj'the report. —Washington.
