Charles voted top Royal
NZPA-AP London Prince Charles may take a back seat to Prince Andrew in the looks department, but the heir to the throne is Britain’s best-liked member of the Royal family, according to a poll just published. In the market opinion and research international poll conducted for the “Daily Star” newspaper, Prince Charles, aged 35, also won the most votes as the Royal with the best sense of humour, best understanding of commoners’ problems, and best ability to handle the press.
In the popularity stakes, the pollsters asked respondents which two or three members of Royalty they liked most. Fifty per cent named Prince Charles as one of their choices, 46 per cent his mother, the Queen; 45 per cent his wife, the Princess of Wales; 31 per cent, his grandmother, the Queen Mother; 13 per cent each for his father, Prince Philip, or his brother, Prince Andrew; 8 per cent his sister, Princess Anne; 3 per cent his brother, Prince Edward; and 2 per cent his son, Prince William.
