Referee kicked
NZPA-AFPFleurance, France The final of the French Rugby Union Cup for third division clubs was abandoned after 46 minutes yesterday when the referee was kicked in the stomach by a player he wanted to send off. Bizanos were leading Torreilles, 12-0, when the referee, Mr Darroque, ordered the Torreilles hooker, Henry Bannet, off for violent play.
Bannet refused to leave the pitch and kicked the referee in the stomach. Play was immediately stopped and Bizanos were awarded the match. On Tuesday, the federation president, Albert Ferrasse, had appealed for better behaviour after a stormy week-end of club championship matches highlighted by seven players being sent off in a second division game.
