Welford out
Steve Welford, the speedy Cashmere - Wanderers striker, has been suspended for two matches by the Canterbury Football Association’s judicial committee.
Having been cautioned three times for the same offence, deliberately taking a player out of the game, Welford accumulated 21 penalty points, one over the
mark at which suspensions are imposed. Welford, who has scored three times for the Hertz League side this season, will miss Cashmere’s match against Burndale United this week-end, and their Adidas Chatham Cup tie on May 12, against South Canterbury United. He is the first player suspended this season.
