Concert
The Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and Michael Houstoun feature in a concert at the Christchurch Town Hall on Saturday evening. Mr Houston will play the Rachmaninov concerto No 2, under the baton of Juan Matteucci. The concert will open with “Die Fledermaus” Overture by Johann Strauss and Bizet’s Symphony in C. Both these works have not been performed in Christchurch for a number of years. Juan Matteucci was last in Christchurch in 1981 when he conducted the Dvorak Symphony No. 6. Apart from a few conducting engagements around the country, he spends most of his time as musical director of the Mercury Theatre’s opera seasons.
